2018 Pinot Noir

Vineyard:

Clone: Own rooted MV6 – Vines planted in 1999.

The fruit is a blend of two blocks sourced solely from Lonestar Creek Vineyard, Upper Yarra Valley. B Block is grown on red volcanic clay and C Block yellow duplex soil.

Fruit picked on 10 (C Block grapes) & 13 March (B Block), 2018

Winemaking:

Winemaker: Franco D’Anna

Total crush: 308 dozen – 15% whole bunch, wild yeast fermentation, open tanks.

Maturation: nine months in new (8%) and used French Barrique (225l), full malolactic fermentation
No fining or filtration; contains sulphites.
Bottled 31 January, 2019.

Tasting Notes:

A bright deep red colour with a crimson hue. This wine has greater complexity on the palate with the distinctive fragrant MV6 pinot characters of cherry, strawberry complemented by savoury aromas.

Medium weight on the palate with good length, sound fruit, balanced acid and silky ripe tannins providing a lingering finish. Drinking brilliantly now and good to cellar for 3-5 years

Perfect with soft cheeses, crispy pork belly or slow cooked game fowl.
